Engine cut out

Was driving about 30/35 up a slight hill when car started to slow down then all of sudden brakes seem to lock up engine cuts out .so I am at a stand still at side of road no warning lights or messages are showing.tried to start all lights light up as normal but when I turned the key nothing tried a few times buy nothing. Rung my mate tried jump leads just in case although battery only a year old.Anyway I leave the car go home come back about 30 min later tried key it started but cut out twice on third go it started fine drove home no problems so anybody any idea what might have caused it any help would be appreciated thank you .

Could be quite a few different things. Try the easy ones first. Check earth strap engine to chassis. Check fuel supply lines + filters. I doubt that the brakes locked up, the engine just stopped and that stopped the car. Have you had the car long and was it reliable before today?

Had the car about 18 months had trouble with ignition turn out just needed a new batt also done the rear light cluster as it burnt but other wise car running good.
