Engine diagnostics warning lamp on - OK to drive?

Got the car back this morning and all seems to be OK. But I did have to get them to polish out a small scratch that had appeared on the rear offside wing before I'd accept it. (They did an excellent job of it and the scratch has totally disappeared now.)

I wasn't disappointed to return the B180 CDI Sport. It reminded me why I don't like diesels. Because of its limited power band the gearbox was shuffling up and down more than the proverbial whore's drawers. As for all the torque I keep hearing about, it makes for a very unsettling pull away when in a hurry at places like busy roundabouts. "Nothing's happening - whoa, there it goes - s*1t, is that all?" Not pleasant at all. Yes, it was reasonably quiet once up to speed and the OBC told me it was commendably economical, but there's no way I could put up with the tick-over death watch beetles or the stuttering initial progress. Perhaps you get used to them in time and no longer notice, to the extent you don't believe they're there? But nah, not for me thanks.

Well it turned out not to be a faulty knock sensor. They now think it's a faulty temperature sensor - which of course they don't have in stock!

I don't know how obvious it should have been in this case but it's pretty poor that they can't see past what the computer tells them and diagnose the actual fault.
