Hi Guys
I have just purchased a 1998 CL 420 I have only had it one day. The car has been lying idle for nearly 7 months, and I have noticed that there is a strong smell of Engine fumes in the car. My mechanic told me to drive it for a while as you will get this, cause the engine hasn't been run propley for a while.
Also I noticed that my MPG does not seem to be very good, but that could just be me. I have had a very quick look round the engine and can't seem to see any obvious fuel leaks Though I must have a better look. Has anyone had any similar experince.
Is there any obvious DIY checks I can do on the car....
I suppose my biggets fear is that I have a fuel leak somewhere and the car could catch fire.
Thanks

The smell of fumes may be leaking injector seals. When I had my Merc that was one of the problems I had
