Faults Picked Up: Engine Idle Recognition Switch not functioning properly

Anyone know much about this switch?

How it will effect the running of the car?

Is it a cheap/expensive part?

Easy Job to do?

Cheers Paddy

Has the throttle pedal got a potentiometer ie any wires going to it or the cable under the bonnet?
If so i would say the switch was integral with this.

sorry paddy@polyposta, but can I ask you what is 'limp home mode'?
thanks

Before doing anything clean the inside of the throttle body with carb cleaner.
The throttle isn't resetting to home position, if the clean doesn't work check the spring then adjust the switch to click just before the throttle makes home position.

Limp home is when the car detects a fault so goes into a failsafe mode.
