Hi what system could i use to reset my engine management light on a 2002 c class.I have seen cheap ones on ebay do they support the star system or will the older carsoft system work.

most of the cheap OBD II scanners will reset your light, but be sure to find out why its lit up

About £65 for a U581 Scanner, ebay or Amazon. Will read and clear engine faults. Usual fault is the O2 sensor, if it is try cheapo (£15) off ebay rather than £160 from MB, worked for me with car passing MOT with no problem.

The cheapo lambda sensors do sort of work for a while but if you read the live data of a cheap lambda sensor it does not operate quite correctly. This WILL effect the fuel economy and the general running of the engine.

When the car was tested, a couple of weeks ago, the emissions were lower than the previous year and the fuel consumption is now back to normal (max 33 mpg). With the faulty sensor i was getting a max of 25 mpg with the management light illuminated. As long as it stays like this for the next twelve months i will be happy, at least it got through the test and has not (apparently) damaged the cat.

Another vote for the u581 pretty good.
Does all sorts pics are an example, easy to use and gives you a pretty good idea of whats going on, plus you dont have to listen to the barstool mechanics:D
