Hey, bought this car used over 2 years ago. Full Merc service, one previous, private owner who moved abroad and therefore sold the car.
The car ran great until two weeks ago. Had the car serviced at Mercs but did not go for the top-up of Adblue as I thought I'd save myself money. BF topped up last week, car ran well for a few days
and still does/did but Adblue message came up, filled it up and engine management light on but
car runs good and BF confirmed this.
As we will be selling the car next month when I get our new car and runs good, how can i turn off the orange, engine light icon? BF tried the OBD2 I think it's called ir a oranged thing with lead on and plugs into car but it would not allow the light to be turned off.

Any ideas? (Don want to pay Merc the 80/90 pounds.

It's a 250d, automatic and covered just under ten thousand miles.
The Co I'm selling our car too inflates the buy price but lowers it when you go there so I'm not worried if it does go wrong afterwards but ATM it is fine.

Find someone with a code reader and get it read, this should at least point in the right direction. If the EML light has come on there is likely something wrong but on a car with less than 10,000 miles on the clock surely it's still under warranty? I certainly wouldn't have expected the Adblue to need topping up twice though. In any event I'd have thought some goodwill by MB would be likely for such a low mileage car.

This could be a spurious fault code that is showing as 'Stored' (historic) and activated the EML.

If you take it to a garage, what they will most likely do, is make a note of the fault code, then erase it (which will also extinguish the EML), then tell you to drive the car and let them know if the EML comes back on.

Thanks, M
I did not see your reply as I've posted an update in the electronics section re breakdown guy saying the cars hardrive won't allow updates.

Sorry Mods - please merge threads if you wish.
Thanks
