Engine management warning light.

Hi all,
I have the dreaded warning light on my cl180 2007 appearing. My local Indie had a quick look to no avail. I have booked it in for a more indepth look. I was just thinking if there was any thing common to the cl180 regarding this warning. Any suggestions much appreciated.

He did find codes and did some checks but found no problems. He is going to do some further checks.

What were the codes ? Did he cancel the EML only for it to come back on again ?

The common faults on the M271 engine are:

- Blocked engine crankcase breather. Will bring-up the EML. There will be a fault code to that effect. Easy fix.

- Split vacuum hose under the air filter box. Usually causes rough idle. May or may not bring-up the EML. Labour-intensive to fix.

- Timing gear failure. Usually causes noisy and/or rough idle. May or may not bring-up the EML. Expensive fix. If not caught in time, it will wreck the engine.

Yes he did cancel the EML and it came back on next day.

What was the code ? OP just saying 'some codes came up and he cancelled them...' Is not really helping us to help you. Get the codes read again and post them on here.
