Hi guys.

Firstly, as I am new here I would like to say hello.

It appears my fully serviced e320 is having a very weird issue I've never seen before.

It's sounds like it's got an issue with the fuel / oil pump or injector - I've also been told that it could be a tappet. No idea, 97k FSH no error lights or error codes at all.

Since the MP3 below, it's had an oil change and at first sounded fine, but the rattle / knock has come back and a little different sounding.
See YouTube MP3...

Any thoughts? Anyone had this issue before?

Here is how it currently sounds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKzrBM47244

Thanks All!

Oil and oil filter replaced.

Oil filter not found to be collapsed.

After oil change the noise had gone, after a drive it had come back.

Going to get it looked at on sthesoscope.

Crank pully had movement, not sure if it could be that.

Otherwise fuel or oil pump or maybe tappet.

At the moment it's a guessing game.

It's been on STAR, no fault found, LIVE data appears OK too...

:wallbash:

Damn stupid car, this is completely intermittent - the noise has completely gone again.

Put the stethoscope on and not anything amiss.

Chopping this crap in and getting a last 2014 C63 W204. (one can dream)

I would suspect that you have a sticky tappet. A good engine flush followed by some 5/40 or similar grade oil may clear it. Both the above are crucial to clearing it, if indeed it is a tappet.

Get a flush that you add to the existing oi and run for 30 minutes or so at 2.5k revs.

So I did a Wynns engine flush - am tempted to buy Forte instead and use these.

I used two bottles of Wynns (8.5L capacity for the car) and left it at idle for 20 mins. Post change it was perfect.

20 mins later the noise returned as per the last video.

Going to get expensive doing another oil change and filter.

It needs 229.51 Oil 5w30 I used Petronas SYNTIUM 5000 XS (Car has a DPF)

Not sure what to do. Thinking it is a stuck tappet but rather that using flush again maybe I should use Forte Top end treatment. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00T0FLGHC/?tag=amazon0e9db-21

Not sure what else to do at the moment.
