Just have a curious question, its something that I have noticed but just never worried about but my engine seems to make different noises when turning left or right?????
It's the I6 320cdi and when I'm driving and turning left the engine sound is nice and quiet and smooth even throaty the way it should be, but when I'm accelerating in a straight line or turning right it is noisy and metallic like, tappy and much more old school diesel like, its hard to explain but it noticeably different

I know this is a strange one but just wondering if anyone has had something similar as I know this is not normal as It should sound the same all the time

Check the boot at the base of the steering column where it passes through the firewall. I have it lightly packed with fibre glass insulation. It was split and now is quiet.

Steering column gromet is torn. Cheap to replace and will sort the noise.

You can get one at the dealers. But my solution did the trick for free.

Ok just an update, got the steering column boot changed and what a difference it had made with noise in the cabin, and an easy change, garage said it took them 2 minutes to do.
