...facing down slope rather than up...why?

My car is starting to take rather too many cranks to start first thing. I have noticed that it takes fewer cranks when I face it down the drive rather than up.

air leak on the fuel pump?

Yep my money would be on a slightly leaking or air leak on the fuel pump too. Our Explorer would actually refuse to start sometimes if you parked facing up hill I renewed all the fuel piping to and from the pump to the filter and it never did it again, no signs of a leak but pretty sure it was air related.

Air leak into the fuel pipes, injector leak off pipes or the injectors themselves leaking off too much.
