Engine swap 190e

I'll try , but please bear in mind it is about a decade since I did this , the car is long gone and I'm going from memory .

I do wish id just bought a full w124 but i also have no where to put it to rip everything out of it, will the original radiator not fit? I understand that itll over heat with the original radiator but this swap is mainly to get it to my house under its own power not so much about how sustainable itll be in the long run as ill mostlikely swap the gear box diffs radiators when its in my garage. And thanks for the clarification, is there videos and information online about how to do the harness as its one of my biggest fears would you also put it in before or after the engine? Thank you

No videos that I'm aware of, but it isn't as bad as it sounds. The m103 and early m104 harness is quite self contained and easy to remove, I actually find it quicker to leave the wiring attached to the engine when I pull them out and disconnect it from the car.

If your keeping the car auto it's far easier to pull the engine and gearbox out together, rather than separate them in the car.

The 4cyl radiator will not work with the 6cyl, the hose connections are different. To future proof it you could buy a 190 2.6 radiator which will drop straight in.

No videos that I'm aware of, but it isn't as bad as it sounds. The m103 and early m104 harness is quite self contained and easy to remove, I actually find it quicker to leave the wiring attached to the engine when I pull them out and disconnect it from the car.

If your keeping the car auto it's far easier to pull the engine and gearbox out together, rather than separate them in the car.

The 4cyl radiator will not work with the 6cyl, the hose connections are different. To future proof it you could buy a 190 2.6 radiator which will drop straight in.

Wait so i should put the harness on the engine then drop it in?
Also with pulling the gear box and engine out together thatll mean i have to swap the gear box onto the other engine outside of the car yeah?
And i will look for that radiator thanks

Edit , this guy seems to be breaking several 190s , and several cars pictured , but worth contacting him - if you can get the 2.6 drivetrain - gearbox , propshaft , diff and driveshafts , that would give you something you know is going to work - similarly get the instrument cluster if still there and you will have the correct speedo and rev counter . If the 2.6 is the black car , then it looks like the radiator might be gone - perhaps better with a new one than an unknown old one ...

Might be easiest to drop the rear subframe and take it complete with diff and driveshafts ; just don't forget to get the propshaft too !

However , this could be a golden chance to get most of the bits you need all in one go ! Could be worth hiring a van and going up to grab everything !

If I go to a breaker looking for specific things , I always end up seeing other stuff as well .

Looks right , and if you did a manual transmission , you can just ignore the ATF oil cooler to the side .

Here's another one , this time in Cornwall , but the photos show a virtually complete car - possibly with everything you need !

That one also has an electrically adjustable drivers seat - even if the wrong colour you can fit your own covers to it ; plus it has rear headrests ( again you might need to source covers to match your interior ) it is vital to get the headrest mounting brackets which are riveted into the bulkhead behind the back seat - so take a cordless drill to drill them out . For the seat you'd need the seat itself then the wiring loom and the switch in the door - can't see if the passenger seat is electric as well - not a difficult job , you just need to follow the loom to disconnect - I did it in a W126 . Oh , don't forget to get the EZL unit from the front wing .

It just depends if the seller sends you the EZL with the loom - it is the electronic ignition unit and they are specific to 4 or 6 cylinder cars .

The radiator has a built in oil cooler for the automatic transmission fluid - you need that if you are running an auto , but if you convert the car to manual you can just ignore that part .

If I'm pulling the engine out of the donor car it's quicker to leave the wiring attached to the engine, going back in it doesn't matter.

Yes, fit the gearbox to the engine outside of the car. The top bolts are a pain to get to with it all in the car, also you wont be fighting with it to line everything up.

If it's 3.0 engine going in and you dont have an EZL, I have a few here.
