Engine/transmission swap recommendations

Have you considered the 320 112 V6 with the 776 5 speed auto, you can pick up the full kit low miles for less than 1k

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the recommendation, but I'm set on manual unfortunately, I really don't get on with auto's. If i was restoring to sell, I probably would consider it, but I want this to be my perfect build ill be keeping for years to come.

The manual gearbox from the m112 will work with the m113 V8 no problem, but to get that working in a w126 will need a custom ECU setup.

If your not worried about keeping it all Mercedes, have a look at the Chevy LS engines. A brand new 450hp LS3 and all the electronics to run it can be had for under £9k, a used gearbox is £2k.

Thanks for the recommendation, LS swap was once of my first considerations tbh, but they are a bit on the pricey side. If money was no object, I'd definitely go that route, maybe even supercharge it, but I'm foolishly hoping to keep the build under 15k all in

If your doing the work yourself £15k will more than cover that.

If your going with the m113 engine dont go for the kompressor version as the m112 box cant handle it, stick to the basic 55 engine.

If you can find one BMW m60/2 engines can be had for under £3k with a manual gearbox, and a usable loom and ECU.
