Engine vs Engine :)

Hi all,
Need help - i've sold my w202 and am thinking of getting a w203. I've seen a few and the 2 finalists are 2001 200 Kompressor and the 2003 180 Kompressor.
Anyway, both have different engines - the '01 has the silver engine (m111?) top (almost exactly like the my 98 w202) with red Kompressor written on it and various intake pipes. While the '03 has the newer engine with black covers etc.
Anyone know of power differences between the two engines? fuel economy? HP? which is smoother/better performing?
Any inputs will be appreciated.

There's a considerable difference in performance between the 180 and the 200, but the 200 and the 230 are very similar.

if want to know that info about any car I just find the same car on Auto trader thats listed with technical info. That tends to suffice my need to know

not sure but i think the 2001 is a 2.0 while the 2003 is a 1.8with a bigger charger and they both have the same power. about 160hp
