Engine will not rev past 3000 RPM

most of the sprinters i have worked on with rev/power problems have been down to fuel presure.

Find a local bosch special list with one of the KTS systesm or the current snap-on reader and they have an actual value's screen where you can see the presures..

I did a sprinter that was the same, very pedestrian to drive and stopped dead at 3000rpm..

Merc Change the MAF sensor, and boost controlor still to no avail. Changed fuel filter and injectors.

guy came over with it and we noted fuel pressure was about 600bar not the normal 1400-1600 bar, and boost preasure was 1 to 1.1 atmospheres

Changed the regulator on the back end of the rail and it was back to normal (was a 313cdi)

Find a decent garage and get them to check the data from the ecu... BTW if they use bosch gear on the diesels it will always show no air flow.. known sware bug..
--------------------------------
Only other thoughts are that the boost preasure control valve( back box on baulk head that reposts boost presure to ecu) has failed or one of the vacume/presure pipes has come away..

Have seen error similar on golf 20v turbo where the egr had failed

and on diesel astra 16v where the boost actuator has seazed up and the ecu limited the fuel supply to stop the car over boosting.. sorted by some wd40 and a wiggle

Problem Solved. Car Running SWEET again!

Thankfully, the problem was the cheapest option!. The Turbo pipe had a tear in it. Was not so easily visible. Replaced pipe. Car is running like NEW.

Amazing, how a small tear in the turbo pipe can result in huge power loss, erratic gear chages, heavy smoking, and generally shite to drive.

Many thanks for all your suggestions and advise

Oh thats great news...same problem and solution!!!!!Now you can enjoy the feeling of being turbocharged again!!!!!!!

Actually from experience, NOPE!!! You need to do the old way physical checks!!!!

No errors/faults. Just drove like pants. I was gonna px the car a couple of days back. i think ill now hang on for a few miles yet!

My Moody Eclass wont Rev

Thanks for all your advice,

I have taken car to a Bosch Diagnostics specialist he has plugged in the car to his diagnostics system and found a fault described as inlet channel.

He has explained that there is a mechanism on the inlet manifold consisting of a motor and actuator and valve assembley. This apparently alters the length of the inlet to maximise the torque output of the engine through the rev range.

He has quoted me £ 143.00 to change the motor, but if its the mechanism a strip down of the inlet manifold is required.

Car is going in next week to get the motor changed, I will let you know if it is successfull

Car has been repaired and is running sweet as a nut, back to normal after replacing the actuator motor on the inlet
