C250 Coupe 2011 W204
Hi,

I need the advice of you experts on here! My car is 2011 C-Class coupe C250 2.2 CDI. OM651 engine.

Here's what's happened.

I started the car one morning and the idle was very erratic, before eventually the engine stalled. Didn't get off the drive. 30 mins later it started and ran fine all day. Now, the exact same thing happened about 10 months ago but it's been fine for the last 10 months, all through winter up until now!

I took it to mercedes to put it on their machine and they came back with these error codes.( P200A75 was the error code when it happened 10 months ago also)

P200A75 "The charge movement flap (cylinder bank 1) has a malfunction. The emergency position was not reached".

P040100 "The flow in the exhaust gas re circulation (cylinder bank 1) is too low."

I've been quoted £700 just to open up the engine and look at the intake manifold and flaps. That's before parts and assuming they'll find anything wrong.

I was wondering if you guys have any other advice or things to try before opening up my wallet.

Thanks very much!

probably better off taking it to an Indi MB Specialist....where in the country are you?

Secondly, whats the mileage on the car?

I'm in Telford. I know there's Andrew Gayle in B'ham 50 mins away. I did email him twice and call with no reply :/

Oh - the £700 was from an independent. Merc wouldn't quote until they had the engine apart - he guessed 1,500 !!

Anything I can check/test/clean at home?

It did start this morning, was hiccuping at first and erratic but was fine for the rest of the 25 mins journey. Any idea as to what might be the issue?

Wants a good clean out .put a tin of aditive in the tank .And then a spirited drive.Think your trying to catch up to Hamilton..lol

As above, also what diesel are you using?

Try above and with the expensive shell stuff, maybe change the fuel filter beforehand. You never know

Funny you should suggest that. I took it for a good trash yesterday. This morning idle was still rough - it was hiccuping, like a misfire. Settled down after 5 mins.

I have bought some cleaner additive too - worth a shot.

I also got a tin of wynns EGR cleaner - that you spray into the intake system, but haven't had the guts to use it. Not sure it's a good idea. Because the engine's a pain to get to anything I'd have to spray it after the filter, before the turbo's. I'm not sure it's a good idea through the turbos. Anyone had any experience with this stuff??

p.s. I also bought an OBD2 reader - no codes yet.
