Mercedes 129 series 500 sl, 1992 model
Hi there, I have a 1992 129 series sl 500 that won't start. I have read an old article on this issue posted in 2016 & my symptoms seem similar. I started the engine one morning & left the car idling, to warm up a bit, & after a few minutes, it stopped & hasn't started since. The engine has fuel up to the fuel distributor, the engine has plenty of spark, new plugs etc & the fuel distributor has just been overhauled by an expert on this model injection & I have put the unit back together & still the problem persists. My Son, helped by sitting in the car, turned the ignition on, I then pressed down on the air control valve, & fuel started to come out of the top of 2 disconnected lines on the top of the fuel distributor, as should be normal, we turned the ignition off, tightened 1 fuel line & just left 1 fuel line loose, turned the ignition back on & no fuel, kept trying this same procedure & sometimes fuel will start to run out, but mostly it won't. In the article I mentioned before, I noticed that they mentioned the "MAZ Relay" & I can't find any reference to this anywhere, ( one of the persons on this issue said they had dismantled the unit & re-soldered some connections, reassembled the unit & bingo, away the engine went) so I would like to try & find out what this unit is & where it is please, does anyone have any answers for me, regards DevilCat, Ray Patterson, Australia
