2001 CLK200 Coupe. Try not to die of boredom before you get to the end of this post. Have read lots of posts on this problem - mine is a bit different. After driving at around 70 from start for about a minute, or driving at around 40 for 20 mins I get round orange ABS light, round red handbrake light and square orange ABS/ESP lights. Power drops, radio volume drops, speedo stops working (not sure about the cruise control, not tried it). If I open a window then close it the top two lights go off, just leaving the bottom square ABS/ESP one and the usual malfunction message and power returns. If I open a window the top two come back on, go off on closing it. The top two lights also go on and off at will. Fault clears if I stop and re-start and do the usual lock-to-lock with the steering. They will then come back on as above at will. Have replaced brake light switch, no difference.

When this first occurred the central locking vac pump also started labouring to open the boot and filler locks - doors ok, and ok on locking. After disconnecting/re-connecting the battery (did the usual lock-to-lock for the ESP) that's now working intermittently but am going to fit another pump anyway. Any connection with the ESP/BAS problem?

Engine Management Light has been on for months (apart from clearing it intermittently) - Merc Star computer gives "out of criteria" readings on the mass air flow meter, have now replaced that with genuine MB one . Light back on 24 hrs later. Not yet put it on the computer to see if it is still saying its the MAF. It did the same with a non-original MAF but it could take a week to come back on. Computer originally said it was the front lamba sensor (replaced) then started blaming the MAF. The crank sensor has also been replaced. The car runs perfectly and has done throughout all these problems and sailed through MOT emissions test.

Is there a possible common earth or feed that might be reducing power to units for engine management, the ESP/BAS and the central locking vac pump?

Have given as much info as poss, sorry if some of it is totally irrelevant. Maybe this is one problem causing a knock-on, maybe it's several.

Anyone help please?
