Hello all.The ESP fault has just appeared on dash display:mad:.I tried twice to clear it doing the steering lock to lock 3 times which has cleared it in the past, when disconnecting battery.
All i have done today is replace the lower off side track control arm,as the rubber cover was split on ball joint.I have also bled all brakes as they were due(2years last bleed).Had a couple of drives 2 ish miles each and all was fine.parked up for a couple of hours, then just covered 15 mile journey, when halfway through ESP fault showed. Any idears anyone?
There is some sort of movement sensor attached to anti roll bar on off side. What is this? I was carfull not to Knock it whilst Changing lower track control arm.

It could be so many things. Get the fauld codes read 1st.

Looking that way.Firstly though,Im going to clean&check wiring connectors tomorrow.
I cant see that ive caused any damage with the repair&brake bleeding today.I"ll post outcome in due course.

I had the same problem with my car. It was traced to a faulty lateral sensor which I had replaced.

How much did sensor cost? Do you need star to diagnose this fault? Did you fit yourself or was it mb or independant garage that fitted it?
I maybe jumping to conclusions, but is it anything to do with me bleeding brakes?I didnt use a bleeding kit just a bleed pipe in a jar & pump brake peddle(with the help of an assistant pressing brake peddle).Brakes work fantastic though!

Lynall, Do you mean sensor on the anti roll bar?as i have what looks to be some sort of a sensor attached to that.I cant see any sensors attached to any of the track control arms.

Hi yez>sorry to trouble you,but can you tell me where the ESP lateral movement sensor is located on your car?
Was it diagnosed with star diagnostics? and how much for the sensor.
The ESP light will not go out on my C270 CDI.
Any help&comments would be apriecated.

Just had front drivers wheel off to clean the sensor & multi plug wire connector,Which is attached to the anti roll bar.
Is this the ESP lateral movement sensor?if not where is it located?
I thought i"d fixed it as ESP fault cleared, but after a mile drive approx 2 to 3 mins,ESP fault "VISIT WORKSHOP" has returned! Im not keen on visiting a mb workshop, thankfully my local gararge now has star diagnostics so what do you recon should i take the plunge & get it read by star?
All this trouble since i bleed breaks yesterday! should i give breaks another bleed? Thing is they work fine&are not spongey.

Hi Striker600
I had the work done at my local Nationwide Autocentre. I am no good at fixing the car myself. I t cost me £86.93 for the sensor and £63.00 labour. Hope this helps.

Yez.thanks info very helpfull and a nice surprise to learn that its not too expensive.
May take it to my usual garage as there labour rates are affordable and they have star diagnostics,so for anyone who lives in the Rotherham(south Yorkshire) area and requires star diagnostics let me know & i"ll pass garage details on.
Dose anyone know if the ESP FAULT is a MOT failure,as mine id due in a few weeks.

Have you checked the brake fluid level since bleeding the system and driving?
Yes checked fluid level today&still on max.Breaks are working fine, but im tempted to stick it over inspection pit tomorrow and give all wheels a quick bleed to see if it cures fault or am i wasting my time?

Anyone know where this Lateral sensor is located on my C270 cdi w203 estate?

Under the load floor cover immediately behind the rear seats

ESP FAULT FIXED!:)
_______________
ESP fault sorted today.Im so pleased it wasnt expensive.
Had codes red (with a snap on code reader today at my usual garage,& it Flaged some sensor(i cant remember proper name)to do with the centering of the steering wheel being centered when front wheels are pointing straight ahead.
Since i changer O/S/F lower track control arm last sat, steering wheel wasnt centering when wheels pointing straight ahead.Steve, the owner of garage told me to get tracking checked as this may cure ESP fault. If it didnt,he said he would have to reset fault with star.
After having tracking checked & adjusted(it was way out)the ESP FAULT dissapeard after 3 attempts at lock to lock with steering wheel&restarting engine. No reset with star was required.
All in all costs were£14.50 for tracking & a Drink for helpfull steve at the garage!:)

ive just replaced the lower suspension arm on my w 203. drove it a bout 6 miles then esp visit workshop came on. steering wheel is no longer pointing straight ahead. so will get tracking set tomorrow and see where i go from there

got tracking set. it was way out. had car put on diagnostic computer. would not erase codes. drove car stopping a few times for about 15 miles eventally all back to normal

Hi all

I was driving today just had message come up esp fault visit workshop.

Some of you have mentioned about wheel alignment and steering wheel however I had tracking done last year and my steering wheel has not pointed strainght however no error message then.

Would this be a sensor issue?

If so can someone recommend garage in Rotherham area that can sort this out?

Could be various things, from an ABS ring to the Steering Wheel Angle Sensor, you need to get the fault codes read.
