Anyone seen the £15,000 r129 (old SL) to r230 (new SL) conversion kit? It looks....erm.....bizarre, to say the least. Completely spoils the old car's classic lines IMHO and tries to make it into something its clearly not

Pics/advert in the latest Mercedes Enthusiast for those that are curious.

These 'old to new' mods have been around for ages. If you think the SL conversion looks bad, then don't look at the S-Class conversion... that has some real weird angles going on at the back by the light clusters.

I think carrying out a mod like that would seriously damage the 2nd hand value of the car once completed. The others I've seen: W202 ---> W203, W124 ---> W210.

I think if you got a salvage car with panel damage it could be ok, someone would buy it.

The worst i have seen is the W124 E-class to "frog eye" E-class conversion

The front on the SL looks aweful after the conversion....far to long..
