Confused. On their site a Bosch S5 109 is £140.40

And on Amazon it is £109.14 delivered.

Any idea what the club discount is, or a I better off with the Amazon offer?

Also, anybody have any experience/opinions/knowledge of Yuasa batteries? I've never heard of them.

Thanks.

ETA: Is the ECP member discount 20 or 30 percent, anyone know? Former bring the price down to 112.32. Still more than their Amazon listing

Yuasa = Top Brand.

More famous for their bike and industrial applications than for their passanger car products, but a well-established high-quality battery manufacturer nevertheless. Been around for donkey's years.

Thanks, good to know, never blipped my radar before, it was the 5 year warranty that caught my eye.

And it is always worth asking the dealer's parts department first, they do sometimes have good deals on original MB-branded batteries.

Their price is thirty pence more than ECP with a 20% (if that's what the club discount is) discount.

Iirc correctly MB batteries are either Varta or Bosch. Are V&B not one and the same these days? Memory's a bit rusty.

Unfortunately my nearest main dealer is.....ahem .....a pretty cr@p outfit which I avoid at all costs.

Varta and Bosch are the same

ECP and carparts4less.co.uk are the same

(well, part of the same group anyway)

Bear in mind most manufacturers make different ranges of batteries. A top range battery will have a better CCA rating [ cold crank amperage] than a lower grade battery with the same nominal AMP HOURS rating.

Yes, I think the min CCA for the SL is about 830. So 850/900 would be fine. Choice is down to Yausa, Varta and Bosch now. Price/guarantee will determine purchase. (which I'm hoping will not be necessary !)

The discount is 30%. Use MBCLUB30 when checking out.

I bought a Bosch S5 096 battery last month RRP was £146 34 and their sale price came down to £121 20. Using the club discount took it down to £90.

Got below the magic £100 so must be worth buying Ian:bannana:

If you take your old battery when you collect, they dispose of it free as well.

It seems that ECP have a promotion on batteries at the moment and neither MBClub30 or MBClub25 work. The only one that I could get to work was 'battery15'.

What.......you mean to say that it's not delivered by a liveried footman in an S Class; and fitted whilst I sip the champagne he's served?

Hmph..I think I'll take my business elsewhere.:D:D

Take your old battery to the scrappy and get £5 - £8 back on it depending on its size.

Our Xmas club fund is heavily subsidized by the old batteries we take to the scrap yard.
