And this government thinks they can bail out the UK end of foreign car makers out and it will somehow all be OK?

Dream on, that is the pan European figure. November new car sales in the UK were down by 36.8%!

That is a correction of oversupply in a market where a fundamental Darwinian shift has taken place, not some sales glitch that can be tinkered with to buy a few more votes.

I dont see how the government can really help. Short of giving money away to the consumer so they can go and buy new cars and keep people in employment.

hey, if the Gov, or even the EU wants to give me money to buy a brand new european car, then I'm sure BMW, Mercedes, Audi or Volkwagen could tempt me into something shiny and new...

hell, I wouldn't turn my nose up at a brand new volvo either...

of course, I'd want some say in which car I get paid to buy... :)

It is a sign, as with all major purchases, if you are unable to get credit, it cannot be bought. There are very few who can outlay 20+ grand to buy a new car.
