MERCEDES C300h HYBRID (W205), BRILLIANT BLUE, AMG LINE PREMIUM, AIR SUSPENSION, LED, 360
Just checked tyres on 4-month old C300h and rears are down to about 3mm. Car has done 10,000 miles, but they have been very steady miles. Long motorway journeys around UK. Car very rarely out of Comfort mode. Fronts are still healthy at about 6mm.

Car is running on 19-inch wheels with Pirelli P Zero 225/40 R19 run flats (which kill the ride quality!!). Car also has air suspension (which I hoped would help with the ride quality, but doesn't!!).

What are other people getting out of their tyres on new C-Class?

C320 245/40/17 Continental tyres. I'm at 17000 miles with 3mm remaining. Mostly steady driving with a little spirited driving when conditions allow.

I had Pirelli's P zero Rosso's on mine 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 and rears went in a year (16K miles) now fit Goodyear Ays 2 and getting well over 25K on them

Bit of a necro bump.

Rear tyres on our C250d (Pirelli PZero 255/35 R19 Y 96 XL RF MOE) seem to wear down to the wear bars in about 8k miles!! That's without really pushing the car too.

May try a different manufacturer next time. Would be interested in hearing from others on this one.

Sounds like P Zero's are to be avoided if wear rate is a concern. I'd be unhappy at anything less than 20,000 out of a tyre if the car had been driven moderately. I have mileage records for all 3 sets of Michelin Energy savers that have been on mine and on average the first 2 sets have lasted 23,500 miles. The current ones look set to easily better that.

I have just contacted my dealer to have a look at the rear set up as my Continentals (run flats) are only lasting around 9000 miles. That is 50 mph to & from work on an A road and the occasional motorway trip. Annual mileage is normally 10000. Not impressed if this is the norm. are the Goodyears run flats. Have looked on line and the ones with low noise seem to have worse wear rate.

Really depends on both the tyres and how you drive. I'm on 19k with the original Hankooks on mine from new but it's all motorway/M25 so easy on the tyres. Still about 4mm left as well. However in my previous role I had a C350d and a much shorter route but it was a lot of roundabouts and then only got 10k at best out of the rears.

Should have said I'm running 18"s. Loath to take the present tyres off as the dealer could not accept them as proof. My saving grace is the car was serviced by them back in June and they had loads of wear left on them noted on the service report. Also have invoice from ATS who fitted them new last year along with 4 wheel tracking.

I took the car in to the dealers yesterday and was told nothing wrong with the car, between 8000 and 10000 is the norm for this car with those tyres. Apparently its down to the way the tyres (run flats) are strengthened and are made of a harder compound. I suggested changing to 'normal' tyres and carrying an emergency spare. He said I could possibly be changing the vehicle and my insurance may not be valid!!!!.

It's interesting that some versions have run flats and others don't. There are two reasons run flats give such a terrible ride. One is their construction with very stiff sidewalls. The other is the weight of the tyre. You can't believe the difference between a run flat and non run flat of the same size. The logic of a run flat is good, but the execution isn't.

My C350e is on non runflat Continentals and they are on 16,000 miles with reasonable tread remaining (245/40/18 on the rear).

Interesting as I'm going to be putting circa 30k PA on my 300h - thankfully a company car so no tyre bills!#
I don't actually find the ride on the 19" runflats that bad, certainly no worse than my previous car again on 19's but standard conbstruction tyres?

I think the ride is ok on the 19" run flats, it's the wear rate that's not good.

@Winchy I'm reasonably confident there's nothing amiss with our car in terms of wheel alignment. The tread wear is smooth and even right across the tyres. Disappointing that the dealer/MB position is that 8-10k is acceptable. I'm going to try a different brand of tyre next time and see if that helps. May move away from runflats too, that alone would save £140 an axle.

If the new Pirelli's aren't any better then I'll bin the run flats and go for normal tyres. Is there an "emergency spare" available for this model and where does it fit in the boot (English)/trunk (American) :)

My C250 with airmatic & 19" wheels has 255/35x19 run flats on the rears, are you sure yours has the correct size? Also, I find the ride quality very good on anything other than badly maintained roads. I'll check the tread depth tomorrow as mine has covered 7,000 miles for comparison.

If a diesel with AdBlue, the tank is in the spare wheel well, so no spare will fit.

I look forward to the day I crack 10k miles on a set of tyres.
Least.....800 miles....CL600 BT
Most......8500....Lexus LS420.
Perhaps my driving habits could possibly be a contributing factor..:)

C250D on Tombstone S001 (worst tyres ever ! had these on my golf GTi also), just had first service today at 15,500 miles and rears down to 1.8&2.0mm. Probably par for the course on a mid-weight rear wheel drive car, on the golf they lasted about 30,000 woeful, poor cold traction, tramping, wheel hoping miserable miles; Couldn't wait to get rid of them! Will be going for some Michelin PS4 on the rear as I wondered why traction was so bad now the temp has started to dip and then hope that Michelin sort their act out and get 225/45/R18 97Y released before the fronts wear out. The Bridgestones are as hard as conkers so I'm a little surprised I've only managed 15,000 out of them. Pirelli, good year etc are all a good step softer so I guess your doing not too bad to be on 3mm at 10,000.

My dear tyres continental sport 245/40/18r need replacing at 9500 miles. This is my 12th mercedes and I've never had tyres wear so quickly before, usual Mileage is 18,000. TYre Service reckons that they have changed the compound to improve the rating on the new EC Tyre Guidelines. Not happy!
