Exhaust bracket E220 AMG LINE COUPE 2015

Hi Guys, new to the forum, having issues with an exhaust bracket and bolt shearing and causing damage, back box drops down on to the road and in the first instance it ripped off the rear bumper causing extreme body damage. A year later after replacing the bracket and bolt that was purchased from Mercedes once again the bolt sheared and the back box fell on to the road again only luckily this time I stopped the car immediately to prevent the damage that was caused the first time. Has anyone else had this issue with their merc?

I have just experienced exactly the same problem with our 2015 E 220 AMG Coupe. When it happened, we were able to retrieve the back box and the clamp but no sign of the bolt. This led me to assume that the bolt had sheared. As in your case there was severe damage to the rear body of our car resulting in a claim on our insurance. Yours is the first post I have found so far but there is also a YouTube video when searching "Mercedes E220 exhaust problems" with a 2016 E220 with the exhaust clamp bolt sheared.
The response from Mercedes was "never seen that before" The clamp is stainless steel and there is no sign of any corrosion. I now wonder if this will happen again as indeed it did to you.
