Exhaust tone

Hi hope someone can help I have a Ml 350 bluetec 2012 I have had it for over
Two years the other day I opened the window as I was driving which I don't normally
Do the exhaust seems to have a sound like a sports exhaust I thought maybe it was
Blowing but when I parked it up in the garage I gave it a bit of a Rev and it seemed
Ok is this the normal tone of this cars exhaust the exhaust on it is just the standard one

We too have the same model & year. Although I wouldn't say our sounds like a sports exhaust per se, it doesn't sound sound like some other diesels I have heard, but that maybe due to the engine oppose to the exhaust.

It could be doing the dpf regeneration. Did it smell a bit 'burny' too?

Hi not on that night but a few days before that there was
A strong smell of fumes when I parked it up in the garage
