I was losing fluid from the join at the bottom of the expansion tank on my ML55. I bought a replacement tank but it was only when I removed the old tank I saw a rubber O ring seal, which wasn't on the new one.
I called Kms who supplied it but they said the tank doesn't come with the O ring.
I had to use the old O ring, which I am not happy with and called Mercedes Northampton and the man there informed me that the ring is part of the actual pump - not the tank, though it does fit in the housing inside the tank.
He had one in stock and for just a couple of quid he's posting it tonight for me.
I've done a few miles since fitting the old seal and there's no leaking... yet. So the question still niggles me: Did I need a new tank or a new rubber seal?
For peace of mind, I will fit the new seal when it arrives.
While I was talking to him, I asked about a gasket and filter for a gearbox ATF change. The price he quoted was cheaper than I could find anywhere.
Just thought I'd tell you about that.
