    Hi Folks
I just took my car to MB for a fault I had with my car and while it was there they did a check up on the car and told me that both front cats had gone:doh: They then quoted me a price of over 2 grand to fix it:eek: more than the car cost. so my question is where can I get the parts I need at a resonable price. The car is a 2001 E320 avantgarde v6 petrol. I dont really want to use a scrapyard unless there is no other choice
Any help would be really welcomed :thumb:

Could de-cating pipes be the answer?

    Which cats need replacing??

If the primary cats are gone then there will be problems with a de-cat as the sensors are positioned after the primary cats so removing them will have an effect on the readings they take.

If you have a look on e-bay you should find breakers with the genuine Mercedes cats (I once saw a complete system with all 4 cats and the back box go for £150 and this was apparently from a 52,000 mile w210)

I don't think the car would run properly without the front cats (it's the rear - secondary - ones that can be removed).

Yes OEM cats are expensive, non M-B ones will be somewhat cheaper but may be noisy.

Are there any symptoms that the cats have failed?

Cats are fairly fragile so I'd be very careful about buying from breaker etc. unless very cheap.

I don't know if its any help, but there are quite a few listed online (i need a reg to narrow it down)
Catalytic Converter | Quality Catalytic Converters for every type of car

I take it there are 3 cats?
    1 x Rear
    1 x Front left
    1 x Front right

They look like they are approx £250 Each :( - If you do choose them, atleast the 25% MB Club Discount will help :)

    hope that helps!

Is this just an MB Club discount? I ask because there is a 25% discount on your website, and 30% for brake parts.

    Sorry for hijack.

MB club have their own 25% discount all year long - We have just done 25% off everything online for the last week and it ends tomorrow.

Also, once Click and Collect goes LIVE there will be alot less discounting (forum discounts will still apply)
