does anybody know if MB offers warranty extensions or are their any good third party warranty companies about.

Mine runs out in summer and toying with trading in, its always reassuring to have the warranty umbrella in case anything goes nasty. Had a blown engine on an A4 3 weeks out of warranty and that was painful!

cheers

The AA do a good warranty, it has main dealer rates and they are quite good at paying up.

Yup, MB do a warentee extension after the 3 years. For the CLK it's somewhere arround £570~ per year depending on dealer.

thats not a bad price, i'll check it out, see if theres any restrictions/clauses etc

thanks

I've just shelled out £1200 for a three-year warranty for my 1999 E320 with Warranty Direct. Sounds reasonable bomb-proof from the policy wording, and I've paid a little bit extra to have the work done by our local MB dealer (which I rate very highly, by the way). Anybody have any experience of this mob, either good or bad?

MB do indeed offer extended warranties beyond the initial 3 years.

Here is what I was quoted in January to extend my ML warranty when it expires in May 2005;

12 months £695.78
24 months £1180.05
36 months £1507.05

hope this helps

As alfie has said, they do. mercedes of cambridge, quoted me back in may for my ML55 £874 Including the £200 pre-test/check which all extended warrant cars have to go through prior. Not sure if its the same as the original 3 year you get, i never took it out as it doesnt include wear and tear on engine/transmission, fair enough, i suppose, i must admitt i do worry a bit for not doing it, alfie mentioned 2 and 3 year deals, they did not offer that to me, otherwise i might have considered it.

When My car ran out of warranty I enquired about extending. I was quoted £650 for the first year, rising thereafter. I did't bother.

So far I have spent in the region of £300, if that, on work that would've been covered by the warranty. That's in three years.
