Hello all, I am leaning towards a 2006 B-class, can you please explain what do the following packages offer:

-light and sight pack
-comfort pack
-non smoker pack
-parktronic (does this mean simply the beeping proximity parking sensors or is there anything else included)?
-interior motion sensors

thanks!

With parktronic, as well as beepers, you also get a visual display which shows the direction of the obstacle

I think the optional extras packs are poorly described & explained.

(no cost option) Interior motion sensors are a standard part of the alarm system & can be switched off if you want to.

As above, Parktronic beeps(from the front & rear as appropriate) & has front & rear displays which visually indicate how close you are. It is fully integrated with the car gearbox & speed sensors. It comes on when driving slower than 15mph(I think) & in reverse.
Light & sight pack- I think this will be the same as 'Interior light package' which gives illuminated vanity mirrors in front, map reading lights in the rear, footwell lights in front & 'puddle lights' in the front doors.
Comfort pack gives front seat adjustable lumbar support & adj seat cushion angle, plus adds seat height adjustment to passenger seat.
(no cost option) Non smoker pack replaces the cigarette lighter sockets with accessory sockets & replaces ashtray with storage compartment; plus gives improved cabin air ambiance & smell

IF these are the only options on the car you are looking at, then it is not exactly fully loaded & if you look around a bit you should be able to get one with more 'toys' on, such as comand, luxury climate, sunroof, Harmon Karmon surround sound, CD changer, heated seats, leather etc
Active Park assist is an optional extra on the facelift model only

Let us know how you get on!

PS the B class is also known as W245 - Mercedes nomenclature!

Best thing is to drop into a dealer and sit in one, pick up the brochures and get the sales people to show you the features. My local dealer is helpful and approachable and most are nowadays.

B class is a very good car IMO with amazing space -legroom is almost equal to the S class as is the boot space. Just avoid sports suspension -it spoils the ride which is plenty firm enough for most tastes in standard format.

Expensive new so most don't come with a hatful of extras, but most of the extras aren't really needed. I find my Garmin better then the COMAND I had before. Parktronic is worth having and comfort seats (gives tilt adjustment and adjustable lumbar support).

Might just be worth looking at MB offers at the moment. You can even get a discount on the offers these days. See MB website.

Unfortunately the model I had in mind was just sold yesterday... drat...!!

There is another one registered 2006 but has 51,000 miles on it (previous one had 30,000). Everything else being equal would you consider 51,000 miles to be too much?

I think it depends how it has been looked after. If all the services are on time, no expense spared and the car is perfect in and out then it should be just as good or better.

Which engine are you looking at?

It's the B180cdi model.

2nd hand B classes are plentiful.
If you would prefer a lower mileage car, then you are unlikely to have to wait long before a one that suits your requirements comes along.
