Hi All,

A rather perculiar question. I have bought a fluid extractor (orignally to extract gearbox oil) - my friend wanted to change coolant in his C180, instead of doing a flush (not mechanically minded and take rather long), could I just extract the coolant and replace with the new coolant?

Would it be bad for any parts?

Thanks for your help.

Angus

isnt it easier just to undo the drain plug on the radiator?

make sure the heater vents are on hot and re-fill slowly to stop air locks forming.

Thanks both,

I am not very good with any kind of fluid change, but will try!

Thanks
Angus

You need to drain the engine block as well as the radiator.
When refilling keep the heater controls on hot, fill the header tank, then run the engine until fully hot and keep squeezing the bottom hose. As the water level goes down keep adding more until all the air is expelled.
