Was mooching at mercs last night and came across this one:

1998 CKL200 your for a mere .... wait for it £3,800!

I think that is the worst set of wheels I have ever seen on a MB,not over the moon about the front grill, but for £3800 what a bargain :eek:

My other half always rolls her eyes at me when I spot a bit of fakery on the road. Pulled up behind a 6 series convertible a little while back, M6 on the number plate but clearly not an M6. I completely judged the driver (rightly so haha).

I've seen a many an 'AMG' on diesel models etc. The thing is that often they're perfectly decent cars and would look fine as they are. Like the C350 I spotted which had become the super rare C35 and then an AMG badge stuck on the boot.

You must have got very excited about it. Unless I completely misinterpreted that sentence!

I know they're horrendous lol.

The seller loves a bit of chrome and the staggered AM (droopy) G badge does makes me smile.

It's a shame because it's low mileage and if the rust has been kept at bay there could be a nice car under there.

Mine is the same she gestures a polite interest when I point out the finer details of others cars, the size of the exhausts, wonkey badges, the wrong body kits but it always finishes the same .... "your not having till the kids are older" lol.

haha nooo, We've too many children for me to be getting excited these days if she see's a twinkle in my eye for any reason I just get sedated.

I liked that I knew they did a diesel but was surprised at the R Class.
I was the total opposite. Never knew about the Diesel AMG. Though my old car was a one off??? [emoji1787][emoji28][emoji23]

I wish I’d taken a photo of this at the time, but many years back I used to go around car body shops selling my wares.
In one particular specialist body shop in Glasgow the owner was restoring an E Type Jaguar and had it stripped right down to the bare tub for sand blasting.
When the front end was sitting on the shop floor someone had placed a Mercedes Star on the bonnet fo a bit of fun.

lol the only reason I knew about the diesel is I remember a drunk conversation with and engineer years ago about it.

Couldn't see the point myself might as well take your pick of the VAG group if your going to play about with diesels.

An R class AMG though might be the 7 seater the missus lets me get :D

My other half berates me and finds it quite funny. It's half tongue in cheek when I announce, 'Bell end' when I see a naff looking Audi Q3 or something!

That last sentence genuinely made ma laugh! I know the feeling mate.

I experienced the opposite reaction several years ago when I had a BMW M3 convertible... this ****** said "that can't be an M3, mate, it's only got two exhausts, not four".

In fact, the E36 series (including the 321 ps Evolution) had two... it was only with the E46 series that extra exhausts were introduced. But let him think that mine was a fake if it makes him happy...

I would loved to have explained that and walked away sufficiently smug :)

I did see a BMW yesterday with Brabus centre caps in the wheels while waiting at the traffic lights and just thought doh! automotive faux pas
