:eek: Three Mercs, 200,000 miles with no real issues and today my car failed an MOT. Oh the shame. Nearside trackrod end is worn:(

My 04 C180 failed for the same reason a few months back, first time I've had a car fail an MOT!

I've just mot'd the range rover this morning. Guess what?

PASSED:p:p

I did however get an advisory for slight play in, yes you've guessed it, the n/s/f track rod end. :dk:

Do you think taking speed bumps at 50mph might effect it?:)

Haha, iv just bought an E estate thats in MUCH worse condition to repair,CHEAP

Speed bumps ? no, just years of wear & tear

hmm that means track rod ends only last 30k-35k? Does that sound right?

Track Rods

To resurect a thread......

Apparently yes - Mine failed this morning with a broken Track Rod

Indie keeps them in stock they break so often on W203's he advises

Under £100 to replace, so could be worse on 6 year old car I suppose - but no other advisories or necessaries...:thumb:

Still a fail though:mad:

Snap! 5 yrs and 85000mls. Had the MOT failure 3 weeks ago also for the track rod end. I think that's shoddy for a car of its age (Are my expectations too high?) Expensive period, having shelled out for 4 new tyres pre-MOT. Not only the cost of having the rod end replaced, but also the alignment check - thought it worth it as the tyres were brand new!
