My C250 CDI took 25mins to get up to operating temp (90degC) this morning. I’ve noticed it’s taking longer over the past few months. Once up to 90 it does stay there. Is the increased time sign of the stat failing?

What distance have you covered over the 25 mins?

Still seems excessive regardless, a new stat wouldn’t hurt.

Unless it's been idling for 25 mins sounds like a new thermostat might be needed

Yesterday’s trip was 15miles on an A road, so pretty much optimum conditions for quick warm up.

City start-stop traffic is optimum for engine warm-up. The fan will cut-in in no time.

An open road blast with the ambient temperature at ~10 degrees might not get the engine up to high temperature.

Sounds like the stat has stuck open,it is not a hard job to replace ,most do not drain the system down they prefer to burp the system once everything is finished.

A genuine replacement is only £63 so I think it’s worth a shot. Thanks all.
