Fair price??

I am struggling to picture a lady speccing up (before purchasing) that "factory fitted body kit" but it doesn't say whose factory does it? Or an elderly gent for that matter. There is a distinct lack of decent information in the posting. Are all the 2nd hand cars owned by ladies or elderly gents? People who put these sorts of things in ads...

could be one of those elderly gentlemen who are... 80 going on 18 :D

it looks like it's jacked up .. it's sitting too high

Suspension looks awful and car needs lowering - does not look like factory bodykit to and must be after market as the suspensions gives it away and looks out of place.

P.S. Adverts that say lady owner/elderly person actually put me off as they are normally terrible drivers... :p

Agree. Never quite understood why elderly means better ... surely they hit kerbs more

can't see the body kit being factory fitted as Zender are an aftermarket kit manufacturer and does all makes of cars. Remember seeing one of their 'wide body' kits on a MK2 Astra in the 80s. Very cheap and nasty IIRC.

I am no authority on the 190, but the suspension does look high when compared to the wheels\tyres! However the vehicle allegedly has a full service history and I cannot imagine 'boy racers' only doing an average of 3000 miles per year?

The body kit does not appeal to my personal taste but if I was looking at a 190, then this car might be worth looking at.

Folks use all types of wording to describe vehicles and the use of the word 'woman' or 'elderly driver' does not impress me, plus the low mileage might cause early corrosion, or wearing out of parts!

I would definitely pay close attention to the paperwork and look closely at the mileage, chassis and engine number.

Good luck to anyone going to look,
John

I have been readily provided with the VIN, reg and engine numbers by the seller, so I could check them out. He tells me the rear road springs were replaced in February, which may go some way to the noticeably high rear end.

It looks wrong due to the ride height.

i paid £500 for a K (1992) 2.6 with an AMG fitted kit - that's a car that came from AMG as new with a proper kit fitted. I was lucky with mine as the last owner was very well off and just wanted it off his very large driveway!

Mine's got big miles - 177k but with a full service history from new. £4k spent in the last 3 years and looks miles nicer that one. Mine has £600 wheels on it.

The low miles on it, for me, isn't a good thing. Mercs are built to do big miles and not to be sat parked up and driven short distances.

My first car was a F reg 190e, when I bought it, the car had 30,333 miles on the clock, and this was a 11 year old car at the time. In the 2 years I had it I spent over £2000 on it, valve stem seals was the most expensive job. The car was 1 eldery owner from new (he was 83 when I bought the car from him), it means nothing unless in storage a car needs to be driven. Well thats my opinion.

True, some people have the misguided belief that if a car has covered a very low mileage, nothing needs to be replaced and that they can skimp on servicing :(

Always generally try and buy a car on it's own merits, not just on the few figures that happen to be on the speedo - condtion is everything IMO. Obviously if you get the two together (low mileage and fantastically maintained) you are on to a winner! :)
