I thought this was going to be another rant about train delays.... :D

Looks like buying an EV is a fantastic idea if you're a business buyer that repeatedly buys new cars on a 2-Year or 3-Year lease.... but not so much for everyone else 🤔

Just an indication that just like ICE cars once EV's have been around for a while a " second tier " lower cost cottage industry/ DIY dealing with second hand or updated battery packs may well arise- signs of this in the USA already. Those first generation leaf model battery packs suffered from no battery cooling system -hence their short life.

£13.5 K for a used aftermarket replacement battery for your old Nissan Leaf . That's OK then :thumb::banana:
Sounds horrendous doesn't it. Battery costs appear to range from 8 1/2 K to 13 K depending on the replacement battery age and capacity. Cars in question are the first generation of Nissan leafs which had a very small 24 kWh battery- and after 10 years and a hundred thousand miles a realistic range of only 50 miles rapidly degrading to a range incapable of even fulfilling the average daily journey UK motorist of 30 miles.
First thing to consider is this isn't a direct replacement it's an upgrade albeit a modest one a 2-3x range improvement from the original---- 8 1/2 K isn't cheap but looking at costs in the round you would have to compare the running costs of fuel of a hundred thousand miles in an ICE car compared to EV then add in servicing and replacement parts e.g. an adblue system £2-3k maybe an EGR-- if unlucky DPF or maybe a couple of injectors and comparative replacement costs start to level out. The range arguement scarcely comes into it because if you wanted 300+ range you wouldn't have bought a leaf in the first place.

OMG that’s massive. :wallbash:
If I could only type this upside-down it would be so appropriate.
