My W169 is 6.5 years old. The near-side mirror adjustment fails to respond to control. On phoning Mercedes to book it in for repair, I’m quoted £110 labour ‘just to look at it’.

On the day, after waiting an hour while they ‘look at it’, a technician reports back that they have attempted to free-up the mirror - and it now works. The cost? Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Gratis.

So, it’s impossible to believe what one is told of the likely cost of repairs on older cars.

Don't give in, insist on them honouring their original quote and remind them to add the VAT as well.

PS we were once quoted £80 to replace a leaking oil pressure switch on my wife's Audi A4 and they ended up replacing the cambelt (big job) and water pump, by mistake :D They did stick to the original quote (they'd got two cars mixed up).

So someone decided to repair foc and gain a customer who will likely return, that is a new strategy for MB

Well done whoever you are, do not name names he might get sacked for not making a profit on his Labour.

Contrary to popular opinion bean counters do not rule the world!
