Fan/Drive belt life expectancy.

Just wondering how long the drive belt on a 5.5 V8 lasts? Or maybe a better question is: how often should they be changed?

I had one break on a previous car and it cost a fortune to repair the damage.

Change it when it starts squeaking, after ruling out a weak tensioner of course, or when it starts developing cracks in the teeth/grooves, i dont think they have a certain life expectancy just should be inspected at service intervals.
