Hi all - on my otherwise immaculate 2010 212 the fan in one of the cooled seats is occasionally catching on something inside the seat. Any idea howhat easy it is to access it? Eg can the fan be accessed by popping the seat back off?

It probably can.

Thanks will have a look.

EDIT; anyone know how the seat back is attached?

On my 202's there were 2 x screws under the lower edge. I became quite familiar with them as the air pipes for the bolsters would pop out fairly often.

OK; found a local garage who know their Mercs.

They're convinced that the inflatable lumbar balloon is miss-shapen and that's why it's getting pushed back onto the fan.

They also tell me they can get to it through the back of the seat.

It's not cheap but I just want this car to be perfect. I really like being cool whilst driving and have always loved vented seats. And it'll be great in Bordeaux on holiday.

It's on order.

Edit. B*gger. Turns out my car has the later seats and the only way to do it is to go in from the front.

*sigh*

Won't get it done today (they need an auto electrician) but I've booked it in for the 27th.

(I think this will be one of those bills I pay part cash. The OH doesn't notice a number of discrete ATM withdrawals but would certainly notice a card transaction for an entire day's labour + parts.....).

The other good news is that the fellah runs a 212 himself and knows them back to front. He came as a recommendation from someone in the trade as a good all rounder not as a Merc specialist. I wondered how he know all about such an obscure subject as 212 cooled seats. Now I know :)
