Have a S210 320cdi, and have noticed that the big fan has started to get noisy, like a bearing has gone, can someone shed some light on this, is it an easy fix or has someone had this issue?

Probably a bearing gone then, but worth checking that there isn't some debris caught up somewhere or a damaged blades.

Not familiar with your engine but on most models the fan is usually attached to the fan housing which is held in place by a couple clips along the top edge and just lifted out. May take you as long as 3 minutes to remove it and most of that time will be spent locating and disconnecting the electrical connection to the fan and clips that locate the cooling hoses.

Fan motor is usually attached to the housing by three torx screws. Replacement is simple although you may not be too amused by the price of a new fan.

Big fan sounds like the viscous fan.
You probably need a replacement coupling; access is very poor on this car.

Aye it is the viscous fan, are these easy removed or would I be safer giving it to a garage to do. Also would I need to replace the whole fan as 1 unit or is there a bearing or certain part that can be replaced seperately?
