Fan not blowing cold air

I have just bought a 97 E230 estate of e-bay, whilst using the car this week the fan doesn't blow cold air, and the fan speed doesn't seem to be working properly. When on setting 5 I would of thought air would be blasting out (Non A/C model)

Any ideas for self fixing, in laymans terms. I am new to the car and a chippy by trade so dont now my way around the mechanics/electrical sides.

Search for pollen filters and fan speed regulator either on here, google or on e bay.
