I've just purchased an Autel MaxiDiag fault code reader in the hope it would help sort out the S class. I gave it a quick twirl in the Coupe and it worked brilliantly, told me my right/front ABS sensor was faulty and cleared it, it does live data and stuff too. It's not exactly Star or Tech2 but it'd seem they're more than adequate for a DIY mechanic.

Now when I go to the MB it powers up but when it comes to connecting with the car it won't do it, it goes through the motions but times out. It must be getting power through the socket (unless there is a permanent live in there).

Is there any way I can test that the socket isn't faulty?

Start the car then connect your diag, if not you may need a volt meter to check the connector.

This your diag port?
