I seem to remember a large list of fault codes being posted on here. For the life of me I can't find it. Does anyone remember the poster and where it is?

I think post was titled mb specific codes or something like that.

sorry to butt in and hijack thread but been meaning to ask for ages for advice on a good code reader. There are some quite good ones like the U581 ? and a maxiscan something, but neither will reset srs. Yet for twenty quid you can apparently get a simple one that will ?? But thats all.
There are some 200 + but still no guarantee.
I'd like a good all rounder that can do srs etc as well as general codes.
Any recommendations. Oh car is w203 05

Like cleverdisky, I too am looking for a good general purpose OBDII reader. USB (preferred) or Bluetooth dongle for a laptop would be ideal.
Thanks,
Ian.

Assuming you buy a dongle that meets the hardware standard supported by your chosen software, you SHOULD be able to separately decide on the software (there ae loads of options, many with a free trial).

My experience is that the bluetooth ones have the (small) advantage of no cable but the huge disadvantage of introducing the bluetooth "stack" into the software path as the way of presenting the required virtual serial port - with lots of resulting issues re connection stability and speed (the bluetooth driver will vary from PC to PC depending on the bluetooth chip installed so you will often be blazing a new trail).

I only wanted read/erase standard fault codes plus capture live data (to see what's happening at the time of the fault) so can't help re the SRS reset.

I'm familiar with VAGCOM. Can anyone recommend an equivalent for M-B?

Ditto, and also be able to record bechmark data for comparison purposes *before* the fault appears.

Ian.

Well I dont. I dont want bluetooth (bad enough trying to connect the phone), or record live data.
Just want to see what faults there, and reset. Especially srs. Seems you have to have a grands worth of lab signal processing and specialist software to resest a bulb fault nowadays

I'm still testing the various options before buying. Not decided yet.

My "dongle" came from dealextreme.

I also use vagcom on the wife's Golf - excellent software.
