My 1997 C-class has been standing out in the recent heavy rain at a body repair place. When I picked her up this afternoon, started her and turned the side lights on, the "blown bulb" came on. When I got home, I checked every external light and all are working normally, but the light stays on. Then I tried to open the boot and the button just pushed in, without releasing the lock. I tried using the key in the boot lock and eventually there was a click and the boot lock operated to open. Not sure if there's any connection but if anyone has any idea why the "blown bulb" is still on, I'd appreciate it. Many thanks

The warning light works by detecting a change in resistance. It can come on before the bulb actually fails. Its happened to me a few times in the past and sure enough within a short time a bulb gives up. Keep some spares with you.

Ah - many thanks! I'll check my spares bag. Your response is extremely helpful.
