Let's see who's been where and how they rated it........

Penang - Casuarina Beach Hotel (New Hotel now built after Tsunami destroyed it)
Fantastic place, great food and beautiful beaches :thumb:

Cayo Coco or Negril. Mrs TDE1 prefers Alcudia and Olu Deniz.

Am a bit touristy, but failing that - 'home'... Gorey, Co Wexford (Eire). Always come home as brown as a berry from there - but that'd be the rust :)

Mauritius twice

Dubai once

Mauritius is beautiful, hot, great beaches, nice food, relaxing atmosphere. Love it. Only downside is the travel door to door is roughly 23hrs and thats exhausting especially on the return after spending the holiday relaxing.

Dubai I never really got to explore/enjoy was with the Mrs and kids and it was more stressful than relaxing.

The Maldives is the most relaxing, went to reethi beach as part of our honeymoon.
El Dorado suites, riviera Maya, mexico was the best all round holiday we have ever had.
Malaysia has some great hotels and some great places to visit as does Thailand although would not rush back to Bangkok.

A live-aboard doing scuba diving in the Maldives was memorable, Cuba was fantastic (in 1999 but wished we had spent more time in Havana) but, strangely, top of the list is Northern Cyprus. Possibly due to A. being able to drive there and B. that is where our second home is.

Been going to the Maldives for the last 12 years , always around Feb early March, sadly not this year, new kitchen & bathroom planned :(

Another vote for Cyprus North or South we always enjoy it will be going again in August

For longer haul sun Florida, Perth, Singapore had great times in all of them

For Winter snow/ski either Banff, Lake Louise or Denver

The Coast going South from Pottsville to Nambucca Heads on the Queensland/NSW border in Australia. Currently sat outside at my friends house South of Brisbane waiting to bash some cane toads whilst drinking a nice cold Toohey's Extra Dry, cheers!

Corsica
-just a short flight away
-beaches
-mountains
-food/drink
-no yobs

Out of curiosity, any particular part of Cyprus North? Obviously, we know the north quite well.

Interesting to see Cyprus. Had a bad experience a few years ago and it's on the bottom of my list..... Maybe we were just unlucky.

I do love Florida, and would very happily live there.....

Did it for the first time last year drive from the South up to the border parked the hire car walked across the border and picked up another hire car cheap as chips

Only spent 3 days there around Girne in local language and is it Alangadi where the turtles are? Will be doing 3 weeks in Cyprus this year 2 in the south 1 in the north it's a beautiful island

My place - front lawn complete with stereo, good neighbours, chip and putt facility and BBQ = bliss. :):)

Cricket bat, took inspiration from the Big Bash 20/20 the other night. No Freddie Flintoff though, wacked one for four and just gave it a headache. Tough buggers, heads like stone. Might have to get a wood in for New Years.

In years gone by (we bought the house in 2007) we had to do the opposite; cross the border to buy stuff in the south that we couldn't get in the north. No need to do that anymore, thankfully, as we really don't like going to the southern side.
This is more a philosophical viewpoint and on the basis that we have experienced difficulties, one notable, with the Greek border agency. It costs up time and money when we fly but we don't even use the airlines who fly to the south, cheaper and quicker though they are.

Our most visited is our detached villa on Koh Samui, Thailand that looks straight out to sea. Nothing better to wake up to. Even our infinity pool provides wonderful sea views. Most evenings are taken up with a stroll along the beach to one of many great restaurants literally on the beach for a beer or three to accompany some amazing value Thai food.

Driving tour of British Columbia followed by the Rockies for stunning views.

Australia is a fairly regular favourite, particularly Victoria and Queensland. A favourable opinion that's no doubt influenced by having a few siblings there.

The coast from San Francisco down to LA in California has many great places to visit and enjoy.

Florida is surprisingly good away from the main tourist areas of Miami and Orlando.

Hang on, too many favourites from a very long list. And still far too many places still to visit. Off to Barbados on Sunday for our first Caribbean experience. :D

Closer to home, Switzerland, particularly around Lucerne and Bern in either summer or winter. Just breathtaking scenery.
Done the long haul stuff, Thailand 20+ trips, Dubai, Florida, but none beat Switzerland for me.

Maine USA

Love it when we go it just feels like we fit in and its sooo relaxing

Cape Cod is 2nd choice.
