Hi,
I have 2017 e class 220d. Even when the climate control is off. I still feel heat inside the car especially arround the feet area. I have just checked the engine after half an hour drive. By touching the engine cover it feels hot but no smoke or anything from the engine. Coolant temperature is at 90. Checked the coolant level as well and it’s up to level.

Is the heat coming through the blower vents ?

Is your car doing a DPF regen as the heat in the exhaust can be considerable and some will undoubtably be transferred through the bulkhead / trans tunnel etc.

For blower vents. I would say very slight feeling of hot. Like I wouldn't say hot air.
For dpf regen? I am not sure. Could you please tell me how would I know if my car doing regen?

Engine fan running / possibly higher tickover / holding onto gears longer before changing / loads of hot air emanating from under the vehicle / really poor MPG at point of regen / strong "hot" smell from under the vehicle.

Regen wont start until various parameters are achieved regarding engine temp / various sensor conditions met / fuel level in tank etc.

Yes. I see all these signs. Actually I put Archoil d-6400 diesel system cleaner 400ml bottle on my last fuel refill. It might be because of that. How long does this regen last?

When it regens, and you open your driver door, you may feel some heat, and also burning smell.

Until the DPF thinks it is clean , all dependent on various things.

It will take longer to regen at idle than what it will take at 60 mph in fourth gear on the motorway.
