Ferrari 456

Cambelt change alone is ~£800. If a major service and valve clearance check is also needed, expect a bill on the far side of £2k. Ow.

What a car though!!??

I also have a hankering for one which won't go away. I'm not a great fan of the prancing horse, although the 456 captivates me - probably four seats, auto box option, and relative subtlety compared to the rest of the stable.

.....and Fiat Tipo switchgear

A mate of mine bought a 1995 456 some years ago after a various TVRs. Great while he wasn't spending money servicing it...

Yup, that's what does it for me....mid engined two seaters do nothing for me whatsoever, always loved the front engined GT cars though.

I love 456's. One of my favourites.

Great looking car reminds me somewhat of my old 406 Coupe... Same designer I guess. May he RIP.

Can't say it does it for me...looks like a bloated Porsche....do like the Dino tho!!

Yes my favourite Ferrari as you say the only subtle Ferrari they made.

So much car for the money......
A lot of badge/kudos for the money, car is rather average, with a huge potential to empty your bank account.

My friend had a 550M (circa 2002), the last service with some repairs he had when the car was out of warranty cost him £14k.

No matter how much I tell myself one of these will be a horrible money pit I always find myself looking at them.....

So much car for the money......and what a wonderful sound.

Imagine, one day, you die (very likely to happen, one day).

You get to the entrance to wherever it is you go (anyone who travels Network SouthEast will know this feeling of dread).

And it turns out you have £10k in "savings" or "Money not spent" as my wife calls it.

You are going to think "I could have bought a 456 on finance and run it for a couple of years with that money, Bugger".

Alternatively, buy the Ferrari, and arrive with a big smile but no cash.

'Private number plate valued at over £5000 is included in the sale'

Am I missing something?

or will a few mis-placed screws make that read FERR ARI ??

I'm possibly one of the odd ones out, not one of my favourite. I used to love the 328 (magnum one) and then Ferris Buellers Day off one as below... Little pricey that one though :)

Pictured above, that's my favourite Ferrari 250 GT California, Chris Evans Just paid £5.5 Million for one owned by James Coburn.

But I also love the 250 GT Pininfarina Cabriolet SII (which was actually more expensive then the California new - and was the floorpan on which the california was built as a lightweight) - Cost aroun Euro 350,000 for a good one...

But both these cars have more in common with Van Goghs or Picasso's than cars....A 456 I could enjoy and still look at. However I'm still not sure I'd buy one over a Aston V8 Vantage X-Pack (the 80's one)......both equally like to suck me dry......

Look so much nicer in a colour other than red though....

Id love one in grey with an auto box. 456mGTA :) Been in one a couple of times and all i can say is sublime :)

I did look at buying one but after the Maserati experience decided not to. I do still want a 550 though...

A light blue 456GT with an aftermarket exhaust drove....ahem.....nailed it....up St Johns Wood high street last weekend. Dear god in heaven, it sounded absolutely amazing....at 8am though, not sure that the locals would want that to be the wakeup call
