They're supplying the engine and the chassis. A1 will assemble them. Ferrari are using outside contractors to cope with the size of the contract

It's a real show of commitment from the series organisers. More than a few eyebrows will be raised by this move, I predict

I thought this formula was the most boring series I ever had the misfortune to watch. Rather than replace the engines\chassis, I would much prefer a rethink on presentation and the fundamental ethos behind what it is all about?? Country vs country with different drivers for different races that do not even come from the country they are representing, in a car that is exactly the same as those from the other countries that are competing? No wonder the good drivers abandon ship as soon as they can get a decent drive in a proper series.

No votes and no interest

Viewing figures v Entertainment

Millions of viewers tune in to Big Brother and Celebrity Come Dancing every week. I rest my case.

A1 seems to represent the surplus money of the muddle-east. The reason why F1GP is popular is because of the drivers, engineering, hot grid girls and the champagne. Three of the four are banned ! That's nothing to cheer about.

To me it seems pointless having national representation given that real sports promotion takes place through brand association. Hence the reason why I have no coverage in the local news, since there is probably no person delegated to the task of press releases.

Another loss for british manufacturing (possibly, I don't know where ferrari are outsourcing to). The A1GP engines used to be produced by Zytek in the Midlands.

(Sorry Grober - just re read your post and realised you've already said they were manuf. by Zytek)

Hi Miro,
What do you mean about three of the four are banned please?

I've tried my hardest to work up the enthusiasm to watch this racing and have managed to watch three or four different races but have never gone beyond a couple of laps. We talk about the poor quality of commentary with Formula 1 but Watson takes the biscuit for this prize and to me is the final nail in the coffin.

Regards
John

A1 is some hobby of a Saudi muse.

"drivers, engineering, hot grid girls and the champagne"

The only thing left is driving. The engineering is standard, the girls and booze are restricted.

:o :D Not with it this morning,
Thanks for that and I won't mention the rugby  :D :D

What about the whinging Kiwi's :) :) :) :)

Just watched the Gp racing and big congratulations to Stoner.

Negotiating Tool?

I'm not seriously thinking Ferrari would quit Formula 1, but this formula makes a useful negotiating tool with the FIA? We tend also to forget that F1 was/is a very EURO-CENTRIC sport in terms of its following---the majority of the teams still being based in Europe/England altho sponsorship/funding is more global. The FIA are keen to bring more of the world into the fold ( bigger TV audiences-advertising revenues ) but are probably paranoid about any potential rival for their "global " aspirations.

And without taking anything away from Englands great rugby victory I should perhaps also add

Scotland 3 Ukraine 1

The FIA should be cautious not to irritate any corporation much larger than itself.
It won't be the FIA, it will be Eccles-cake and he will always get the proverbial blood out of a stone. If there is money to be made then he will make it.
