file convertor

hi all, wonder if you might be able to help. I have an mp4 player which requires me to convert all files to .avi with a file size of under 720 x 480. the company ( nhj ltd) supply you with dr divx to do this but the trial for it has expired Is there anything I have on my computor or can I get something to do the job? I only need to convert very occasionally and, being a yorkshireman, hate to spent money for nothing Any help would be appreciated.

you could try psp video 9 which converts all files to psp format which are certainly mp4 and I think they will be the size you need

It's free so there's no harm trying it out

Thanks for that Andy but I'm not sure it will do the job. It keeps asking me for a psp to be connected

hmm, sorry about that i thought the option was there to save to the PC but it looks like I was wrong - bah

pspvideo is made by videora, which also makes an AVI to IPOD video convertor, you can get it here http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/

They also do a TIVO convertor which is pretty cool

You can still use PSP Video9 but when it asks for PSP connection you manually point to a directory on your PC to convert files.. It's a little slow but it does work.. When i first used it it turned doubled the size of the file
