F8815A54-7706-4D27-9FA6-78637578DB97.jpeg My GLE is almost fully blacked - window sill trims getting wrapped today. The last part I want to to (bar the emblem) is in the picture. Ima handy sprayer, have worked ina body shop so opinions please..........get it wrapped or take a couple days, numerous coats of primer, sanding and repeat with top coat and then lacquer after using a wire brush to roughen the chrome/plastic surface as much as poss? Was thinking of a gloss auto/plasti-dip over many thin layers and then a few layers of lacquer...lnput much appreciated thanks

Hi, why would you not just get it wrapped like the rest??

If your a handy sprayer, it's a no brainer imo, spray it, it will look a LOT better than wrapping it, i used satin black on my boot trim,
(after several failed attempts at wrapping) and even though I say so meself did a great job. Satin black is a good comprise between gloss and matt imo, and goes on a lot easier than gloss.:)

It’s one of the 2 options I just like doing stuff I’m good at myself, I’m good at spraying, have the kit and booth and it’s a little Sunday time killer. Plus the local vinyl shops seem to think it’ll be hard to do despite what all the you tube vids indicate otherwise. I on the other hand am ok at wrapping stuff like window sill trims but funny shapes is beyond me. Cheers for the input

I have never even attempted wrapping anything myself (except presents :D) and get all any cars done professionally, as I think there is definitely an art to getting it right.

If it's something you enjoy doing (spraying) then go for it!

Some pics of my grille being done recently....

Fully agreed mate. I had a practice run on an old grille and ended up smashing the whole
Thing i got so frustrated. The spraying I enjoy, think I’ll give it a whirl, thanks for your input and looks like your motors gonna look sick once finished

I just used tail light spray on mine. Not overly durable but so easy to reapply.

Pic quality not the best as the phone is on its last legs, but I’m pleased with the outcome and as we live on a farm down a massive gravel track and and up behind some sort of vehicle spewing back stones etc I’m prettty chuffed that not a single chip so far (touch wood). Last mod, if poss, will be to see if there is any ingenious way to work with what tiny space in underneath and fit a working exhaust that exits via the diffuser. Peace
