Where are the knock sensors on the four cylinder diesel engines?? The car is a 2014 W212-R, (AMG Night Edition), 2.1 diesel, (4 cylinder). I‘ve been told there are two on this engine but I can’t seem to find them? Some online videos suggested I needed to remove the entire air intake manifold but they all look like they are working on a V6 engine layout. This one‘s an inline 4. Any help would be gratefully received.

Do you mean NOX sensors fitted to the exhaust system?

No, It’s definitely the ‘Knock‘ sensor. I’ve been told there are 2 bolted to the engine block. One between cylinders 1+2 and another between 3+4. I’ve got visions of having to Strip manifolds off or dropping the engine!

Never heard of knock sensors so I can’t help..
Cheers for trying. Knock sensors detect if the fuel is detonating too soon or too late and adjusts for it. The difference causes a Lot of confusion.
