Ask Comand.co.uk (forum sponsors!). IIRC the firmware updates are on the map update DVD's and you can find out what map/firmware version you have by accessing the "secret" menu on Comand (I've forgotten how you do that, but Comand will tell you!).

There are 2 versions of NTG4 DVD's, mine have part number starting A204 but yours will have an MB part number starting A212 - they are not interchangeable! I've updated the maps in my NTG4 a couple of times in the 4 years I've had the car, using "second user" genuine MB DVD's, I would guess you can do the same with yours. You will not, I believe, get 7 digit postcode entry though - I didn't! - I believe that's only on NTG4.5.

Thanks for the reply!

Ill drop them an email now. I have 2013 map update disks but held fire due to maybe getting the 2015 dvds.

Im looking to update due to the whole BT audio issue there is which I've enabled through the secret menu ( HANGUP + HASH + 1) but have to re-pair the phone every time command switches off :dk:

After updating yours did this fix this issue?

Cheers.

The firmware for the comand can only be done via a genuine Mercedes Xentry/STAR system online to Germany. The disks are not available to buy and the way it works is the car goes onto Xentry which interrogates the comand and then refers back to Germany which replies with the precise disk number to be loaded. This disk number doesnt always correspond to the chassis type either as ive seen A166 disks asked for on SLK's for instance. Once Xentry requests the disk it can be loaded and the firmware then updated. This can take 30 minutes or it can take an hour or more. All depends on what other components are on the MOST bus. For instance if you have Comand, DAB, HK, TV, Media interface then each one of these control units will be updated one after the other.

On the W212/W207 you can get 7 digit postcodes depending on the precise comand unit model number and the latest firmware/maps. Ditto bluetooth audio streaming.

Comand.co.uk can do any firmware updates that might be needed. Ditto maps. All my cars have the latest firmware and maps loaded ;)

Thanks!
I've read on some forums that a Mercedes MD will do this for free or included within a service?
As we all know nothing is free, especially in the UK
How much would comand.co.uk charge?

The car has full MD service history should they not have included the update within one of the services?

IIRC free updates for the first 3yrs only

Thanks!

I've answered your email with costings.

The updates would be done within warranty if needed and asked for otherwise they wont do them. If you are outside of warranty then its chargeable im afraid.

I have no idea what this BT audio issue you mention is! As for phone pairing, I have the telephone pre-wiring in the centre arm rest with the correct cradle for my ancient Nokia 6300, Comand pairs to it even when the phone is in my jacket pocket on the back seat, let alone when I clip it into the cradle, and only unpairs when I get 20 yards away from the car! As a technophobe I only use my phone as a phone, and find the hands free system in my S204 excellent especially once I managed to import all my contacts from the phone onto Comand.

As I hoped, Alfie/Comand have kicked in, they are 1 of only 3 proper pro Comand firms in the country, but are a long way from Liverpool so perhaps Alfie will know if either of the other 2 are closer to you (I don't know the names/locations of the other 2, just know from another thread that there are only 2 others!).

Phone pairing works great when making calls etc. Its just when it comes to passing music over bluetooth it has an issue on the older firmware versions.

Ive seen a few threads now with people with the same issue.

I regularly work in south west england not to far from salisbury so anywhere round there would be great :thumb:

Thanks.
